I am privileged to work and play on land cared for by the Wurundjeri WoiWurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Sovereignty was never ceded.
INFO
Iʼm Chris Ellis, a NZ born ceramicist based in Melbourne. I have been studying
and working at The School of Clay and Art in Brunswick since 2018 where I
have developed a deep appreciation for the materiality of clay and aim to make
functional ware which speaks of itʼs nature.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
CARE
My work is handmade and is not as hardy as industrially made work. Please
handle with care and hand wash when possible. Some of the glazes will stain
with age. I believe this can make a piece more beautiful with use, but please
avoid leaving food or liquid in them overnight or for long periods as this will
leave more intense stains. It is also best to avoid microwaving as there are trace
amounts of iron in the clay and glazes. They are microwave and dishwasher safe,
but the less stress a piece goes under, the longer it will last.
Please keep in mind that my studio is run solely by me. I make, fire, package and send everything myself and as I am only human, mistakes may occasionally be made. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
